Slovenia - sea

Now, perhaps because of the Italians’ annexation of Trieste to Italy after the First World War, the coastline of Slovenia measures less than 50 kilometers. Obviously, it follows that, Slovenia is not the place to head for a holiday by the sea. None the less Piran stands out as a beautiful coastal town when compared with others on the Adriatic.

Piran does well as a tourist destination, the town and its surroundings boast many historical monuments and a rich tradition. The Portoroz Marina here, is said to the best equipped on the Adriatic and is a starting point for many yacht cruises on the Adriatic.

Just north of Piran, the very important port town of Koper also has a notable town center. A center of trade with the Venetians since the 10th century, the venetian look and feel is evident in the architecture here.
