  • Maribor

    Maribor is the second largest city in Slovenia and it is important industrial and transfer node in the country. An interesting touristic sites are gothic cathedral from the 12th Century of Renaissance city hall. Maribor was selected as the European Capital of Culture for 2012. Not far from the city is Pohorje ski resort, where every winter takes place the Alpine Skiing World Cup in women's slalom and giant slalom races.

    Portoroz could be translated as the port of roses, from italian portor rose. It is located on the cost of the  Adriatic sea, in the Gulf of Trieste. With its relaxation atmosphere it is a great place to stay. The history of the town was marked by the Venetians and after that by the Habsburg dynasty.

    The Bled Lake and its climatic spa resort Bled is considerd as one of the most attractive sites in Slovenia. It is located at the edge of Triglav National Park. In the middle of the lake there is an island with its famous church. On the northern cost stands a pictoresque medieval castle. The nature around the lake is perfectly suitable for hiking, cycling or even rafting.

  • Piran

    The seaside resort Piran is situated on the Piran peninsula. Its dominating feature is the St. George Cathedral and picturesque little streets with specific smell of fresh fish. Other feature is round square, where used to stand the old train station, but was demolished and built new one. In the middle of the square there is the statue of the Italian violinist Tartini. It used to be an Italian colony, that is why there still live Italian minority and as well some signs and notices are bilingual.

    The Bohinj Lake is the largest one in Slovenia. It has glacial origin and its length is about 4 km. In its water-level are mirrored surrounding  alpine peaks. It is popular and very pleasant resort to spend a vacation. There is a story about a chamois with golden horns living in this area, this so called "Zlatorog" has own statue by the lakeside.
