Slovenia - Triglav

It is some testament to the under population of Slovenia when one of the smallest countries in Europe plays host to one of the largest designated national parks. What does it say about the Slovenians, either that they have a sincere love for nature or that they have a lot of land that is virtually useless for industrial purposes.

This park in the North West of the country features Slovenia’s highest mountain (Triglav – as featured on the Slovenian national flag), deep river gorges and friendly highlands. It is also, of course, home to a host of wildlife such as chamois, mountain sheep, wild roosters, grouse, eagles and marmots and also the not-so-wild traditional dairy farmers.

So what is there to do in the national park? Be at one with nature, walk a long way and stop in a village to replenish yourself with beer from the tap… mmmm.
